Hebridean - Bitter Chocolate The Hebridean sheep, once known as the St Kilda, is a black, multi horned sheep which evolved centuries ago in the Western Isles of Scotland. Its lustrous black wool with hints of darkest brown makes beautiful, hard-wearing garments, and traces of similar wool have been found in ancient burial chambers on the island. |

Shetland - Multi-coloured The small, primitive Shetland sheep is probably descended from those brought to the Shetland Island by Viking settlers over a thousand years ago. Its multi-coloured wool formed the basis of the famous "fairisle" knitwear and is the finest of all the British breeds, especially the white wool that is used for making the gossamer fine shawls hand produced on the islands, and should not be confused with the name "Shetland" as used in commercial terms. |
